Fitzroy Island Ferry Transfers
Fitzroy Island

Fitzroy Island, on the Great Barrier Reef, is a stunning rainforest covered island only 45 minutes from Cairns.  Our ferry departs from the Reef Fleet Terminal at 8.30am each morning, and travels along the scenic coastline before arriving in the calm waters of Welcome Bay.

There is an abundance of activities available including snorkelling, rainforest walks, glass bottom boat tours, paddle ski hire, a floating ocean trampoline and half day guided sea kayaking tours. As Fitzroy Island is almost completely surrounded by fringing coral reef, you can snorkel straight from the beach without having to swim out into the open water. There are a range of walking tracks suitable for all levels of fitness.

A short 15 minute walk will lead you to picturesque Nudey Beach for a refreshing dip, or be rewarded with spectacular views from the Lighthouse and Summit tracks. As our ferry departs Fitzroy Island at 4.30pm, you will have plenty of time to do as much, or as little, as you wish!

Fitzroy Island is a popular option for families with children as you can snorkel straight from the beach without having to go into deep water. As we are an island, it's also a more pleasant option for children in rough weather, plus our floating ocean trampoline is a hit with the kids! Please note that wheelchairs need to be carried on/off our ferry - our marine crew are happy to assist with this. There are disabled toilet facilities on the island, but not on the ferry. For guests to access any of the areas a 4WD wheelchair is required.
